Privacy Policy
How we handle your data — and why it matters to us.
Effective date: May 20, 2026
The Safe Click Project teaches people how to protect themselves online. We take your privacy seriously because we have to walk our talk. This policy is written in plain language because that's the whole point.
What We Collect
When you join our waitlist or sign up for a free course, we collect your email address. That's it.
We use Plausible Analytics to understand how people find and use this site. Plausible is a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool that does not track you across websites, does not build a profile of you, and does not use cookies. We do not use Google Analytics. We do not use tracking cookies of any kind. We do not build advertising profiles.
What We Do With It
Your email address is used to:
- Send you the Scam Awareness Checklist when you sign up for it
- Send you the lessons in any free course you sign up for
- Notify you when a course tier you've expressed interest in opens
- Send occasional pre-launch updates (a small number, not a drip campaign)
What We Don't Do
- We don't sell your email address
- We don't share it with third parties for marketing
- We don't use it for advertising
- We don't add you to other lists
- We don't track you across websites
- We don't collect any personal information from children — see Children's Privacy below
How Long We Keep It
We keep your email address until you ask us to delete it or until the project shuts down, whichever comes first. If you unsubscribe, your address is removed from our mailing list within 7 days.
How We Protect It
Email addresses are stored securely with MailerLite, our email service provider. We chose MailerLite because they take data protection seriously and comply with GDPR standards. Site analytics are handled by Plausible, which stores anonymous, aggregated data only.
Your Rights
You can:
- Ask what information we have about you
- Request that we update or delete it
- Unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email we send
To make a request, email hello@thesafeclickproject.com.
Children's Privacy
The Safe Click Project includes the CyberSmart Kids track for younger learners (ages 5–10, with a tween bridge for ages 8–12). This track is built to be used with a parent, and our signup model reflects that.
Parent-led signup
- Only a parent or legal guardian can sign up for the CyberSmart Kids track. The signup form asks for the parent's email.
- We do not collect any information about your child. No name. No age. No birthday. No email for the child. No photos. No usernames.
- The lessons are designed to be watched or read with your child by you. There is no child-facing account, login, or profile on this site.
- If a child sends us a message (for example, by replying to a parent's lesson email), we will not store or use their information for any purpose beyond the immediate reply, and we will encourage them to involve their parent.
COPPA
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) applies to operators of websites that knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 — not through the Kids track, not through the Teens track, and not anywhere else on this site. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information through our site, please email hello@thesafeclickproject.com and we will delete it promptly.
Cookies
We don't use tracking cookies. Plausible Analytics does not set cookies. MailerLite may set a small number of strictly necessary cookies when you submit a signup form (to prevent duplicate submissions); those cookies are not used for tracking or advertising.
Third-Party Services
The Safe Click Project uses the following third-party services:
- Netlify — hosts the website itself
- Plausible Analytics — anonymous, cookieless site analytics
- MailerLite — email signup and delivery
Each of these has its own privacy policy. We chose them in part because their privacy practices match ours.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify subscribers by email.
