Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the courses, your email, and how everything works.

Here are the questions people ask us most. If yours isn't here, email hello@thesafeclickproject.com — a real person reads every message.

Getting started

Is The Safe Click Project really free?

Yes. The three audience tracks — CyberSmart Seniors, CyberSmart Teens, and CyberSmart Kids — are completely free, and they will stay free. There's no trial, no credit card, and no catch.

We're also planning three more advanced courses down the road that will be paid. Those are entirely optional and not available yet. Everything on the site today costs nothing.

Do I need to create an account or password?

No. There's no account to set up and no password to remember. When you sign up for a course, you simply give us your email address, and the lessons come to your inbox. That's the whole process.

How do the email courses work?

Pick the track that fits you, enter your email, and we'll send the lessons one at a time, spaced a few days apart so you're never overwhelmed.

Every lesson also lives on this website, so you can read it here any time. The email is just a friendly reminder so you don't have to remember to come back.

Which course should I choose?

CyberSmart Seniors is for older adults who want to spot scams and use the internet with confidence. CyberSmart Teens is for teenagers navigating social media, privacy, and online strangers. CyberSmart Kids is a parent-led track for younger children, where a parent or guardian works through the short lessons together with their child.

If you're not sure, the Courses page describes each one in more detail.

The courses

Are there videos, or just text?

Right now, every lesson has a complete written transcript you can read at your own pace — nothing is missing. Lesson videos are on the way, and when they're ready they'll sit alongside the same transcripts. You can take the entire course today using the written lessons.

Can I read the lessons without signing up?

Absolutely. Every lesson is free to read on this site whether or not you give us your email. Signing up just means the lessons arrive in your inbox so they don't slip your mind.

Is the CyberSmart Kids course safe for my child?

Yes. It's built to be used by a parent or guardian together with a child, not by the child alone. The parent signs up with their own email, and we never collect any information about your child.

The lessons are short, gentle, and meant to start a conversation — not replace one.

Are the printable resources free too?

Yes. Every lesson comes with a one-page summary you can download and print to keep near your computer or phone. There's also a free Scam Awareness Checklist you can download from the homepage. Print them, share them, stick them on the fridge — they're yours.

Can I share the lessons with my family or friends?

Please do. The whole point is to help more people stay safe online — send them the link to any lesson or course.

If you'd like to use the materials more formally, such as in a school, library, or workplace, just email us first and we'll almost always say yes.

Your email and privacy

What do you do with my email address?

We use it only to send the course you signed up for and the occasional related note. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers. You can read exactly how we handle your information in our Privacy Policy.

How often will you email me?

While you're working through a course, lessons arrive a few days apart. Once you've finished, you'll only hear from us occasionally — a new resource or an important update. We don't send daily email, and we never send spam.

How do I unsubscribe?

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you're out, and your address is removed from our list within seven days. No guilt trips, no hard feelings.

About the project

Who is behind The Safe Click Project?

It's an independent cybersecurity education initiative founded and run by Bobbi Jo Halladay. The goal is simple: teach everyday people — kids, teens, and seniors — how to stay safe online, in plain language, with no jargon and no fear-mongering.

Is this professional security or legal advice?

No. The Safe Click Project is educational. It teaches the patterns and habits that help you avoid scams, but it isn't legal advice, financial advice, technical support, or a guarantee that you'll never be targeted. For decisions specific to your situation, talk to a qualified professional.

My question isn't answered here. How do I reach you?

Email hello@thesafeclickproject.com. A real person reads every message, and we'll get back to you. Whether it's a question, a problem with the site, or feedback on a lesson, we want to hear it.

Ready to get started?

All three courses are free, and you can begin in under a minute.
